Audioslave is one of modern rock’s supergroups
that came about when the lead singer of Soundgarden,
Chris Cornell, joined the instrumentalists of Rage Against
the Machine. Their first album, Audioslave, was met
with much anticipation and almost never made it to completion
due to feuding between executives and record labels
over who has the right to produce Audioslave. The album
was also being downloaded illegally before its release
and pirated copies of their unfinished demos flooded
the internet. However the band viewed this as a positive
sign that when the record would finally be released,
fans would want a copy. They were right. Their next
album, released in 2005, Out of Exile, hit the charts
at number one and kept their fan base satisfied. Out
of Exile produced such hits as “Be Yourself,”
“Doesn’t Remind Me,” and “Your
Time has Come.”
Despite their initial rough start and their inability
to secure a name without a legal battle and financial
arrangement. Audioslave has managed to stay together
and tour consistently across the US and the world. Audioslave
has had incredible reviews of the live performances
and on May 6, 2005 they became the first American rock
group to perform a free concert in Cuba. Their international
and national touring has paid off. Audioslave tickets
sell out in every venue they perform in proving that
their supergroup ranks high among the modern rock fan
base. With such talent, the stakes are high with each
record they produce; their fans are highly critical
listeners with expectations of Audioslave that precede
them. Despite this pressure, Audioslave continues to
impress with both their live shows and their recorded
music. This is one supergroup that just might stick
around and make some music history.
