Style. Class.
Flare. Beyonce has it all, yet she still remains approachable
to her legion of loyal fans. Whether it’s singing
on an international stage, acting in popular films or debuting
her latest fashion designs, Beyonce has positioned herself
as one of the most powerful in women in the entertainment
industry.
One
would be hard pressed not to agree that Beyonce was born
to entertain. As a girl, she always took center stage –
whether it was at her dance recitals or singing in the church
choir. Her star shone early as she participated –
and captured first place – in numerous singing and
dancing competitions.
It
wasn’t long before Beyonce, her cousin Kelly Rowland,
and Letoya Luckett formed their own band which would eventually
evolve into “Destiny’s Child,” one of
the premier bands of the 1990s. Their debut album, “Destiny’s
Child,” was released in 1998, and by the time they
would go their separate ways in 2002, the group had sold
a staggering 33 million albums worldwide and had shot to
superstardom with such hit singles as “Survivor,”
and “Say My Name.”
But,
the women of Destiny’s Child also had individual aspirations.
Beyonce would make her acting debut on the silver screen
in “Austin Powers Goldmember” as Foxxy Cleopatra
in 2002. And, of course, her star would continue to smolder
as a singer. At the same time “Goldmember” was
released, Beyonce’s first single, “Work It Out,”
hit the airways. The following year she released the single,
“Crazy in Love.”
It
was also in 2003 that Beyonce’s debut album hit store
shelves. “Dangerously in Love” catapulted the
singer into international superstardom, and Beyonce concert
tickets were as hot as the Texan’s own career. “Dangerously
in Love” also featured Beyonce teamed up with such
stars as Missy Elliott and Sean Paul.
Beyonce
has also received plenty of critical acclaim, winning dozens
of awards internationally, including five Grammys in 2004
for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Dangerously
in Love 2,” Best Rap/Song Collaboration for “Crazy
in Love” with Jay-Z, Best Contemporary R&B Album
for “Dangerously in Love,” “Best R&B
Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for “The
Closer I Get To You” with Luther Vandross, and Best
Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Dangerously
in Love 2.”
Beyonce’s
sophomore offering is scheduled for release in the fall
of 2006.
