Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam is
the story of the anonymous person, perhaps a stranger
on a corner, or a ghost in a crowd. The title, pronounced
“key-dam,” is taken from the Latin word for
anonymous passerby. The 50+ cast includes dancers, acre-gymnasts,
musicians, clowns, aerialists, contortionists, actors,
vocalists and circus artists, and represent 16 different
countries.
Audiences will have the opportunity to see 11 different
acts with their Quidam tickets. Unique to this production
is the Spanish Webs act, in which Cirque du Soleil breaks
with tradition, presenting it as a group act. Attached
to a conveyer by ropes around their ankles, artists
drop into the void one after another. Other amazing
acts include the German Wheel, where an artist becomes
a human spoke; the Aerial Contortion in Silk, in which
a contortionist intertwines with a column of translucent
red fabric; and the Banquine, in which 15 Slavic artists
perform acrobatics and human pyramids.
