Curtains
Curtains is Broadway’s newest musical comedy from John Kander and the late lyricist Fred Ebb. Set in Boston in 1959, during an audition for a Wild West style musical, the show opens up with a scandalous murder. The murder is then investigated by Frank Cioffi (played by David Hyde Pierce). Cioffi then begins to romance the leading lady (played by Tony winning Carmen Bernstein) and takes up the task of perfecting what he views to be an on-stage disaster of a musical. Pierce’s humor carries over from his last Broadway performance in Spamalot and the comedy keeps this 2 hour and 30 minute show fast-paced and light. Curtains is based on the book by Rupert Holmes and clearly is a musical worth seeing for any Broadway aficionado.

Curtains is currently playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and has not announced an ending performance to this date, setting it up for a Broadway style run. Curtains tickets sell out quickly due to the wide range of viewers that are drawn to the musical comedy genre. The show opened March 22, 2007 and advance ticket purchase is recommended. David Hyde Pierce has won four Emmy’s for his TV series Frasier and Debra Monk (she plays Carmen Bernstein) has won a Tony award for her performance in Red Curtain.
