Eric “Kix” Brooks and Ronnie Gene Dunn met in
1990 when they were introduced by Tim DuBois, an Arista executive,
who thought the two would be a dynamic due. DuBois was correct,
after that meeting Brooks and Dunn went on to be the most
successful duo of all time in the country music genre. They
signed on with Arista and went to work on their first album,
Brand New Man, and released it in 1991. The album was an instant
hit with the title track “My Next Broken Heart”
hitting number one on the charts and the line-dancing trend
kick-off began with their hit “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”
Brand New Man went on to sell more than 5 million copies and
made Brooks and Dunn country superstars. For the next 10 years,
Brooks and Dunn would release several albums, all of which
preformed well on the country charts.
In 1997, Brooks and Dunn had enough hits
to compile a greatest hits album with two new tracks, “Honky
Tonk Truth,” and “He’s Got You,”
both of which reached the top five on the charts. The Greatest
Hits album went to double platinum and Brooks and Dunn officially
became the best selling duo of all time, giving Simon and
Garfunkel a run for their money. In 1998, Brooks and Dunn
made history with Reba McEntire, the release of their album,
If You See Her, coincided with the release of her album,
If You See Him, and both albums contained the duet single,
“If You See Him/If You See Her.” It was also
a chart topper for both artists.
Despite
all their commercial success, Brooks and Dunn still saved
most of their talent for their live tours. With Dunn as
the quiet yet intense performer and Brooks, the energetic
show stopper, the combo sold out tours across the nation.
Brooks and Dunn concert tickets became a hot item for all
loyal fans and with their track record in the country music
industry, there are plenty of fans to fill the concert halls
they perform in.
