Gwen Stefani was born in Orange County,
CA on October 3, 1969 and was highly influenced by the
growing ska and punk scene in southern California. Her
brother, Eric started the band No Doubt in 1987 and asked
Gwen to help out with the vocals along with his friend,
John Spence. The trio played at local parties and managed
to build a loyal fan base throughout the beach scene in
Orange County. Tragedy was not far from the early band,
when late in 1987; John Spence committed suicide, leaving
Stefani as the lead vocalist for No Doubt.
No Doubt was noticed by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist
Flea and he recorded a demo for the band in 1990, which
led to a contract with Interscope Records. Their self-titled
debut album followed in 1992 but did not do well and
Interscope dropped the band shortly after. Not to be
deterred, No Doubt raised their own money and came out
with their second album, The Beacon Street Collection,
but still the band couldn’t break out of their
Southern California fan base. Their sophomore album
did get the attention of Interscope again and in 1995,
No Doubt released their third album, Tragic Kingdom,
which hit Gold and spawned three number one hits, “Just
A Girl,” “Spiderwebs,” and “Don’t
Speak.” No Doubt then began to tour extensively
and Gwen Stefani rose to fame not only as a singer/performer
but as a celebrity, fashion icon and designer. In 2000,
No Doubt released Return to Saturn and the public still
supported the band 5 years after their latest album
release.
Gwen Stefani decided to embark on a solo career in
2001 and produced the smash album, Love Angel Music
Baby with such hits as “Hollaback Girl,”
and “Rich Girl.” After the release of her
debut album in 2004, Gwen embarked on a world tour,
married Gavin Rossdale of Bush, starred in The Aviator
with Leonardo Dicaprio, and formed L.A.M.B., her own
clothing line. Despite her hectic schedule, Stefani
continues to tour across the US and Gwen Stefani concert
tickets sell out at every venue she performs in. With
all of the avenues she has to express herself, the world
still has gotten enough of Gwen Stefani and her fans
are eager for more.
