Jason Mraz gained a love for music and especially the acoustic
guitar at the age of 18 and began to study music and theater
in New York. Jason then decided to try the southern California
audience and moved to San Diego. He began performing in
the coffee shops and local clubs and soon he was a hit in
the local scene. With a clear tenor voice and a fine tuned
acoustic guitar ability, Jason Mraz released a single titled
“The Remedy (Don’t Worry)” and gained
popular acclaim throughout San Diego and Los Angeles. Soon
the track was getting massive airplay on the radio, MTV
and VH1. Despite all the hype on the single, Jason still
hadn’t released his album. But it set the stage for
his smash hit release in 2002, Waiting for My Rocket to
Come. His debut album was certified double platinum and
the touring and hectic lifestyle began to take over.
Since
his debut, Jason Mraz has played with some heavy hitters
in the pop/rock industry such as; Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews
Band and Paula Cole. After consistent touring for Waiting
for My Rocket to Come, Jason released Tonight, Not Again:
Jason Mraz Live at the Eagles Ballroom in 2004. His live
performances becoming legendary and Jason Mraz concert tickets
flying off the shelves sent him back into the studio for
his third album, Mr. A-Z, released in 2005. The album, cleverly
titled to read like Mraz – his last name, was also
an instant success and safely put Jason Mraz in the top
of the folk/pop genre artists.
With
such a start, the Virginian born guitar player should consistently
find success and hopefully he will continue to tour. He
now has an international fan base and is touring with Jewel
through the end of 2005. Hopefully this easygoing, optimistic
artist will continue to play for the masses for quite some
time.
