Talk about sweet irony. One of ten children, Gabriel
watched as his mother went to work as a housekeeper
each day. Today, Gabriel owns the very mansion his mother
once worked in.
Gabriel is a bona fide success, not only in his home
country of Mexico but around the world, having sold
a whopping thirty million albums worldwide. And, it
all started when he began writing songs when he was
a mere 13-years-old. As a teen, he began singing those
songs for audiences at local nightclubs.
It was in 1971 that Gabriel first had a hit single
with “No Tengo Dinero.” In the years that
followed, Gabriel could also be seen on the silver screen
in such films as Es Mi Vida.
From 1971 to 1985, Gabriel’s albums sold a stunning
20 million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, while his
career was white hot, he ran into a major obstacle with
BMG Records over the copyright of his songs, which led
to him halting his music career for eight years. By
1994, the issue was resolved, and Gabriel was back to
doing what he does best: making music.
In 1995, Gabriel was honored as the “ASCAP Songwriter
Of The Year.” A short year later, Gabriel received
perhaps the highest distinction any musician can: he
became the newest member of the Billboard Latin Music
Hall of Fame.
To date, Gabriel has released a mind-boggling 69 albums,
including “La Historia Del Divo” (2006),
El Unico: Sus Mas Grandes Exitos (2004), Inocente de
Ti (2003), Querida (2000), Con la Banda...El Recodo
(1998), Juan Gabriel La Inspiracion-Angelica Maria La
Voz (1992), and 14 Exitos Originales: Para Ti (1988).
In addition to releasing his own albums, he’s
produced albums for a long list of successful artists,
such as Paul Anka, Rocio Durcal, and Marc Anthony.
Juan Gabriel concert tickets are a hot commodity worldwide,
attesting to the enduring presence of Gabriel in the
music industry.
