Paul McCartney is perhaps one of the biggest rock stars
of all time and especially during the last 45 years.
Paul McCartney is the former front man of the most successful
rock band of all time, The Beatles, and his solo career
has been going strong since April of 1970. The first
12 years of his solo career produced nine number one
singles and seven number one albums. With The Beatles,
Paul and guitarist, John Lennon, penned more than 200
songs and created some of the music industry’s
most famous rock ballads like “Hey Jude,”
“Let It Be,” and “Hide Your Love Away.”
Born in Liverpool, England on June 18, 1942, McCartney
has always been proud of his Irish heritage. Despite
this claim, England knighted Paul McCartney and McCartney
currently resides in his home country with his second
wife Heather Mills. Paul’s first wife, Linda Eastman
was also a fellow band member with him for more than
12 years in his band Wings, before she died in 1998
from breast cancer. McCartney insisted that his wife
be involved with his music and tour with the band, due
to this persistence, Linda became a valuable member
of Wings and inspired other musicians throughout the
remainder of her life. Wings album, Band on the Run,
was the biggest for Paul, spending more than four weeks
at the top of US charts and eventually going triple
platinum. Paul McCartney is also no stranger to the
movie industry, having starred in 3 feature length films
and written songs for numerous movie soundtracks, including
the James Bond movie, Live and Let Die.
Paul McCartney received a special rhodium disc in 1979
for selling more than 200 million albums worldwide.
This amazing feat now contributes to his constantly
sold out tours. Paul McCartney concert tickets sell
out within minutes; fans fly from other countries just
to see the legendary performances that he gives. In
2005, McCartney performed live at half time of the Super
Bowl, creating a frenzy that has ended up in a North
American tour for the fall of 2005. McCartney sold out
such monster venues as Madison Square Garden in New
York, MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas and The Staples Center
in Los Angeles. When it comes to a legend, no one can
compare to Paul McCartney.
